The Canada Geese are back in record numbers. They return to our area in late March to breed. Once their goslings are raised they fly off and then return in the fall until the first frost. Many consider them pests; they can be messy, large and loud but there’s something you have to like about these birds. They’re graceful in flight and in the water and do mug for the camera.

They sure can be noisy as they fly in and overhead. LOL.
Great images Belinda!

Lovely shots! I like the one with the goose and duck especially. I’m one of those that really doesn’t like these geese. Especially during mating season…they are SO LOUD! honk honk honk!

Thanks Eliza. They are a loud lot but have a few redeeming features😊

Great photos – the first has ‘soul’ 🙂
It is bittersweet seeing them pass over in the fall, I want to follow them south!
I once had a large flock pass right over the tree tops, so closely that I could hear the wind rushing past their feathers – I was transfixed!

The call of the Canadas in migratory flight is one of the true soul-stirring songs for me–both early in the year as we yearn for spring, and most especially in autumn, as we prepare for the season of cold and drear.

Nice, and thanks. We have them here in the south but just not like up New England. Crisp air and a loud Flying V are a fall staple for us. Just not this year.

Thanks. The days are still summer like but with the return of the geese, fall is just around the corner.
