For two years in a row we’ve seen a solitary eastern screech owl in the reserve. As they blend in so well, you have to search hard to find them. We came upon this owl last April, and we continued to see it for several weeks in the hollow of the tree or perched on a nearby branch. I look forward to seeing one again this spring.

  5. Love your little Eastern screech owl. Because it reminded me of the one I see in Chagrin River Park, I referenced your blog in my post today, giving you full credit of course. I hope that is okay with you.

  7. For several years an Eastern Screech Owl has lived in a nesting box high up in a tree in the Chagrin River Park. Difficult to spot because of its protective coloration, it is an adorable little bird, but a raptor nonetheless, that keeps a keen eye on the bog where the tree is located.
