The reflections in the water are beautiful in their own right. I didn’t have to wait for long until this handsome pair swam by, improving an almost perfect scene. The wigeons show up every fall just as the leaves start to turn, and remain until the first frost. A regular feature of the season that I look forward to every year.

I’m guessing that they are in their “eclipse plumage” because the drake doesn’t have that green patch on his head. Great photo just the same. Love the way the water is so smooth yet splashed with dabs of many colours.

It was mid fall when I took this photo so I suspect you’re right. I love seeing them each autumn, always a treat. Glad you like the shot.

Oh those reflections are something else! >>> and for a Brit those birds are something else too – they’re regular here, but in very, very small numbers.

Wigeons winter here. I saw a large flock out on the lake on Wednesday, but they were too far out to get any photos.

Beautiful backdrop to this pair, with the shimmering greens reflected in the water. Beautiful!

Thank you. Sometimes the fall colours compete with the subject for starring role!
