BELINDA GROVER PHOTOGRAPHY

STOPS ALONG THE WAY

SPRING FORMAL (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

Spring sunshine and temperatures are slow to return this year. Green shoots are slowly pushing their way through the soil and I’ve seen a few blackbirds and robins at the reserve but no nest building yet. Instead of trudging through the snow melt on the trails, I took a walk in a neighbourhood not far from where I live. I liked the display in the shop window and took this photo. Another shot that lends itself to black and white.

  1. Such a very interesting image, in either colour or black and white, Belinda. Wonderfully done. And that old singer sewing machine brings back some memories 🙂

  2. Eye-catching display. It would be interesting in sepia, I agree Anneli. Very dapper with the purple tie, however, it makes the shot.

  3. I am a big fan of B&W, but it’s a tough call here. The color is very good.

  4. Like a couple of the other comments, my grandmother also had a sewing machine like that. I think my uncle has it, but his daughter (my cousin) will probably end up with it. Loved both photos, not sure which is my favorite! lol

  5. Oh I like this – and the b+w gets my vote, there are fewer distractions without the colour. A

  6. Looks good in both b/w and colour. Have you tried it in sepia?

  8. Very nice capture, Belinda! I like both versions, leaning towards favoring the B&W even though you miss out on that great purple tie.

  9. What a delightfully unusual photograph. Those old fashioned Singer sewing machines evoke so many memories. I have a beautiful one folded away in a cabinet, which I learned to sew on as a little girl. It was quite a thing to learn to co-ordinate the treadle whilst guiding material through in a straight line 🙂
