Mallards are favourite subjects of mine, they’re numerous and very photogenic so I get a lot of opportunities to photograph them. As other birds depart for warmer climates, many mallards brave our winters and I should get more shots of them as the weather changes.

Sweet captures, Belinda. The preening one and the ripples framing it are extra nice!

Puddle ducks are some of my favourite birds. They seem to have a generous helping of fun and good times about them. (My anthropomorphic mind at work, no doubt.)

I haven’t heard that term before for the mallard, which is also one of my favourite birds.

Puddle ducks seems to describe what mallards and other ducks do so well — paddling around in shallow water, maybe even in puddles!

You’ve managed to make ordinary mallards far from ordinary.

These are gorgeous photos of the mallard, Belinda. I like both of them, and you were able to capture the lovely bill markings that only the female has. I like the portrait of the mallard in the first photo a lot, the posture, head turned, beautiful webbed feet.
