STOPS ALONG THE WAY

RING-BILLED GULLS (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

Two very different photos of the same subject taken months apart. In the first, the bird was very close by and I was struck by his dramatic eye. The other was taken last summer and I couldn’t have posed him better myself.

  1. Great photos, Belinda. Nice detail on the close up and he looks so clean! The second is excellent positioning–good of him to pose for you.

  2. I too was drawn by his dramatic eye, which he probably just thinks is ‘normal eye.’ Hope you’re well, Belinda!

  3. Gulls always look so intelligent. That first photo, especially, show it! 🙂

  6. Great photos, Belinda. I love the closeup. Wonderful markings on the gull. The other photo is so important! I once (long ago) saw a mother encouraging her child to feed Cheezies to some widgeons in the park. It bothers me to this day when I think about it. That kind of food isn’t good for people, never mind ducks. They are better off feeding themselves.

  8. Very good to see these – this bird is a great rarity here, but I have managed to see one – years ago! A 🙂

  9. Is the second gull a juvenile perhaps? I wonder this because of the speckled head.
