Nothing announces spring like tulips. With their scent, colour and perseverance, they appear soon after the last snow has melted. These photos were taken at Ottawa’s annual Tulip Festival. Given the late spring we’ve had, the tulips are a bit slower to open this year and there are still tulip beds that haven’t completely bloomed. Still though, a beautiful sight.

Such exquisite flowers. No wonder they caused such a stir when they were first introduced to northern Europe!

I didn’t know until I was at a tulip festival in Washington State, that tulips have a fragrance. You need fields of them to become aware of it but what a beautiful delicate scent they have. Great photos, Belinda.

So true, their scent is quite faint unless you’re lucky enough to be surrounded by them. Thanks Anneli.

The range of colours is insane with these flowers. I visited Holland, Michigan’s Tulip Festival years ago. Acres of colour everywhere! Great photos, Belinda. ❤️😎👍🏻

I love seeing pictures of tulips because we do not really get them here in any great numbers. The pale one in the top picture with a reddish rim looks lovely – actually, they ALL are!
