STOPS ALONG THE WAY

ONE FOR DINNER (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

Raccoons will eat practically anything, in this case the raccoon was eating some feed that had been left for the birds and squirrels. He was having a fine time of it as we approached along the trail. I have never encountered a raccoon this close up before or one so well fed and relaxed. He ate happily and only left when someone else came along.

  1. They are cute, but I wouldn’t want them setting up house at my house. They’re fierce, and can be a problem.

Love the top image with its tongue out. Great detail, and textures too!

  5. What a healthy specimen! You were able to capture him/her well. As echoed in previous comments, caution is advised with these guys. In our area, we have rabies, so seeing a nocturnal coon in the daytime puts us on alert. This one looks very healthy, however!
