WHAT’S IN A NAME

An attractive little bird, it landed close by and remained long enough for me to photograph it. This was taken in early spring, and it’s a migrant species. I believe it’s a phoebe, but please correct me if I’ve got it wrong.

    I had to take down our bird feeder. Too many squirrels and chipmunks and mice and what not. I am going to miss the birds. (And this from someone who didn’t much care for birds until he put up the feeder!)

    What a soft, gentle photo. It looks like a thrush to me…maybe a hermit thrush.

    Hi Belinda I believe that it is a Swainson’s Thrush (Catharus ustulatus) A very rare vagrant to the UK though I have been lucky to see the very similar Grey Cheeked Thrush. Great shot btw.
