This part of the street has an interesting blend of old and new styles of architecture. I like the contrast in the lines, angles and materials of the two buildings. Different yet complementary, injecting some vibrancy into an otherwise ordinary city block. The young tree adds a bit more interest to the scene.

Both images work very well and I can see why the interesting lines caught your attention. The first is my favorite. I like the splash of color that accentuates the contrast between nature and man-made.

I cast my vote for the color photo as well.
Reason being: I love the way the colors of the leaves stand out when everything else in the photo, even in color, is subdued, drab and gray. It’s a natural photo that looks like it’s painted.

For me, the tree’s colour makes the photo much more interesting. But what is really interesting is the phantom guy in the white cap with a wheelchair, and the crazy angle of the deck/terrace of the building on the left side of the photo. I can see what creates the image of the phantom guy, but I can’t figure out the angles on the building. It’s a really fascinating photo.

In this case, I like the colour photo better. That could be because we’ve had nothing but grayness for weeks now.

I liked the colour the tree provided for that very reason.
