This photo was taken a few years ago in Spring. The trees are not in bud yet. They’re still covered in snow but we’ve turned the corner on winter; the sun’s a little warmer and the temperatures not quite as cold. As I’ve mentioned before, chickadees remain here year round and they too must be anticipating the warmer days to come.

I loved spotting chickadees as a kid…a favorite. I really like your black and white version, Belinda.

Hello Belinda,
I love both, but I’ll be in the minority and put my vote in for the b&w version today.
Something about the b&w version makes me anticipate the coming of Spring (and all her beautiful colours) even more 😉
Best wishes,
Takami

Sweet portrait, Belinda. So clear in detail and the angle of its head gives an intimate feel. I like the color version best as the green buds speak of spring’s arrival… always a happy time!

Nice Belinda! It is nice to see color and B&W versions. Each gives a different “feel” or “look” to your images for us to see. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, such a crisp, beautiful capture of the Chickadee and his eye, Belinda. It looks lovely both processes but I’m leaning to the color image, it too is almost B&W naturally but I love the hint of green with the leaves framing the back of his head nicely. I love his pose! We have them year-round as well; once I’ve been around them, I’m a chick-a-dee-dee-dee-deeing the rest of the day in my mind. I so love their song!

Chickadees are always so sweet. When they flit around beside me out in the yard, I can’t help but smile.
