EASTERN SCREECH OWL

Eastern ScreechAt the reserve we go to most often, we’ve seen barred, great horned and eastern screech owls. We see eastern screech owls most often.  We usually hear of their presence from other photographers and then we go in search of them. Given their terrific camouflage, I’m always amazed when we do spot one.

  5. This is an amazing photograph–congratulations! The composition is excellent, and I like that the one open eye sits right at a rule-of-thirds point and really draws your attention. I’ve never seen a Screech Owl, so this is very cool.

  6. Sweet image, Belinda. I love seeing the green maple leaves in the background. Not too much longer before they unfurl once again!

  16. People don’t often see them in the daytime. You’ve been very lucky. Nice photo too. It’s a real treat so see owls. We hear them a lot around our place (lots of trees), but we seldom see them.
