Circumstances have limited my chances for photography this spring but I did take these scenes mid April. I liked the colours and textures in the scene and the bit of new growth pushing through the hardscrabble soil. The weather is still quite cold and many parts of the country are experiencing severe flooding, so our favourite reserve close to the water is inaccessible.

Both are great photos, the B&W has its own character, but the contrasting colors give it more openness (hope this is correct, my English is a bit rusty)

Thank you Greta. I think the colour version is less stark, the b&w truer to the early spring we’ve experienced.

It takes the eye of a photographer to notice beauty in an otherwise drab environment. Nature is a wonderful example of perseverance!

I see what you mean. Not much difference between b/w and colour as there wasn’t much colour happening yet. Hope that changes soon.

Poor weather conditions aside, it’s still spring and flowers and buds are beginning to appear no matter what.
