Painted Turtles blend in so well, that what appears to be vegetation swaying in the wind is often a turtle swimming silently through the water. I was in a good spot to see this one surface.
These guys are so much fun to watch–the “expression” they wear seems to me to be one of smug satisfaction, as if one had just come up with a spontaneous, devastating, and hilarious pun.
They are sweet creatures. 🙂 I’m so glad that i saved a couple, from the pond that they were dismantling at the school where i worked, and relocated them to a big, natural pond.
