The heron was across the lake from me, having a look around. It remained in place for longer than I did. These birds can remain motionless for long periods of time particularly when stalking their prey. They are singleminded and ignore everything else around them.

Hi, Belinda. This is a technical issue that I’m having a problem with. This particular post has appeared three times in the WordPress Reader. Once, last night … then two hours ago … and now 8-minutes ago. The reposts wreak havoc with the WP Reader, as it causes the page to flicker out of control. This happens frequently, but only with your blog. I am forced to refresh, or close the browser to make it stop. I do not want to unfollow your blog, and was wondering if you had any idea as to why this is happening.

Hi David- I haven’t heard of this before and I’m sorry it’s causing a problem. I can send a msg to WP to see if they might help.

You are so right: I too have given up before a heron has even moved a fraction. They are among the most focused birds I know.

The lookout had better look out for eagles or big hawks. I know they have to watch for eagles here, but not sure what they have where you are, Belinda.
But I’m sure he’s just looking out for a frog for his dinner here.

I believe eagles are a threat but we don’t have many here. Frogs, fish and dragonflies have to be wary of herons though.
