TULIP TIME (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

Tulips

I took these photos last May at our city’s annual tulip festival. The festival was cancelled this year due to the pandemic but as I go most years, I have many photos in reserve.  When we drove by the site the other day, some flowers had begun to open (the bulbs are planted every fall).  It’s been a cool spring so the flowers are a bit late to bloom.

  1. I work a mile from the place Hendrick Hudson landed in 1609, established as Fort Orange, and now known as the State Capital of Albany, NY.
With such Dutch heritage, the Albany Tulip Festival is a really big deal, with driving and walking tours through several parks, and extensive gardens planted by the city.
Perhaps I’ll do a shoot next year.

  3. Beautiful. I learned at a tulip festival that tulips have the most delicate scent. One tulip isn’t really enough to find this out but a whole field of them is subtle and delicious.

  4. Lovely images, Belinda. I was thinking about Albany, NY’s Mother’s Day tulip festival that won’t be happening this year, either. All that work and no adoring crowds. 😦

  10. I just love tulips – Arundel Castle, not too far away, has a magnificent display. This year they posted a video of the garden.
