I look forward to seeing wildflowers each summer. They are hardy and don’t need special conditions to grow: just some soil, water and sunshine, and a few pollinators. Left undisturbed, that’s about it.
I think its a very telling point about the Human Condition that when we try to organise plants in our gardens and some plants do not meet our aspirations, we label those plants with a derogatory term.
My favourite gardens are those populated by the native plants I see in the meadows I like to photograph. Places where flowers, weeds and insects co-exist. 😊
Absolutely. And I rejoice in your use of the word “insect”, in a world that is becoming increasingly estranged from nature, such that “bugs” and “creepy crawlies” are increasingly frequent labels. 🙂

That’s it: soil, water and sunshine, and a few pollinators – so simple if the plants belong.

Even what we often call weeds can look so delicate and pretty.

I think weed flowers are often overlooked, but they can be really beautiful.

The notion of weeds exists only in our minds; flowers are flowers.

You are absolutely right, Adrian. Weeds are just plants that grow where we would rather they didn’t.
