CANADA GEESE (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

Canada Geese may have their detractors but on a lake in the fall they are among my favourite subjects. They’ve had their young and territory is no longer an issue so scenes like this are common. Ottawa is a city that includes a lot of rural land, so you don’t have to go too far to see them flying in their wonderful V formations (or echelons) as they head south.

Very nice habitat scene, Belinda! Wish we could do the ‘one-leg balance’ at any time and not fall over. 😉

Nice photo of the Canada geese in repose here, Belinda. Their squawking and V formations are a familiar and pleasant sign of autumn.

Of course, someone from Canada would know they are not “Canadian” Geese. 🙂 They have been massing here also and the sound of them as they fly overhead is wonderful and, in some ways, as ancient as the call of the loon.

You must have gotten some drops on the lens. Still a very nice photo!

I see these geese being decried by many on several blogs, so it is wonderful to see them in their home habitat by someone who appreciates their beauty – and they are beautiful. Our Egyptian Geese get bad press too – especially from grain farmers – and they too are beautiful.
