On passing a lean-to in the reserve, I saw this raccoon ambling about. I think he had found something to eat on the floor and just gave me a passing glance as I walked by.
They’re cute little devils but I don’t want them around the yard with my dog and the squirrels. Raccoons can get quite aggressive. I think they get away with it because they look so sweet.

Looks like a young one with its small tail. I usually give them a wide berth as well, esp. when seen in daylight, not their normal waking hours.

I wondered if it was young. There’s a tree at a reserve we go to where I’ve seen them asleep in the summer heat. Missed that sight this year though.

Racoons fascinate me because we don’t have them. They look like bandits!

Despite their cute appearance they can be very aggressive and may carry some nasty diseases. I do enjoy seeing them in their natural habitat though.

Good eye! It looks like it caught the scent of something interesting.

They are very adaptable animals and forage in the wild; are known to open garbage bins too.

I like to see them in the wild, not in the city. They are cute though.

Yes, they are, and I agree, it’s better that the are in the wild.
