STOPS ALONG THE WAY

URBAN DEVELOPMENT

I had never seen a mature lady alongside its junior before. The larvae, or instar will moult several times before it is ready to transform to its adult stage. I saw these insects on some bushes on a busy downtown street. A lot going on on this little patch of real estate.

  2. I wonder what they were finding on the menu? Aphids? I sometimes see instars on my peonies – they are voracious little feeders!

  6. Wow, I first thought, how cool you found two bugs in matching colors, lol. I’ve never seen the larvae stage, how interesting, and what a cool find! Love the focused star-shaped flower and the little fly too!
