I don’t often see turtles as close as this one was. Occasionally I’ll see one swimming by but more often they’re sunning themselves in the middle of the lake.

Maybe she was out laying eggs? (June is their egg-laying time.) Regardless, it is great to see turtles. I think they are such special creatures, ancient in lineage and I respect their eons of endurance.

They are so cute, my sister and I had fun capturing them on the lake in Michigan as kids. She had one as a pet that lived a long time. 🥰
