The groundhog was fattening up for his long winter sleep. In our climate they will hibernate in their burrows from October through March or April. We’re under a winter storm watch today, so I think they have the right idea. 😏

This groundhog looks ready for the winter! We used to have one that lived on the hill in the back of our house – always a source of entertainment when it would stand up and look around 🙂

True – we had some neighbors who didn’t like the groundhog. They set a trap – a very unpopular move. Another neighbor put a stuffed animal in the trap to send a message. That was about 15 years ago and we still talk about it!

Perhaps they should have been called Roundhogs! Lovely photos, we don’t have anything like that here … maybe Wombats but they are much bigger and even rounder!

Groundhog Day groundhogs always look a bit grumpy. Can’t blame them though as their sleep is disturbed to give us a spring forecast 😏
