As a gardener, I’m not such a fan of dandelions. I recognise their benefits for bees of course but I don’t want them growing on my allotment. Their roots are too strong and can divert much needed water and nutrients from other plants.
I do however love dandelion and burdock drink. I don’t know if it’s common outside the UK though. Very unique flavour.

I usually see them dotting the grass, I wasn’t aware of their root system.
The drink you mention is one I’ve never heard of.

It’s usually a carbonated drink that looks like Coca-Cola. But has a very unique taste. I highly recommend trying to find or make some yourself if you have the means.
As for the roots, they are insanely strong. They can grow in concrete. If you pull it out of the ground but some root remains, it’ll grow back, hence why a lot of gardeners don’t like them, even if they understand their value.
Most people now define weeds as plants growing where they aren’t desired. So dandelions are weeds if they are growing where they shouldn’t.

Somehow we were always told that dandelions are bad. They are weeds that ruin the lawn. They really are not so bad once we look at them like the bright flowers they are. How boring is a lawn by comparison?
