That drake looks like he might be going through the beginnings of a molt. It’s after the breeding season so the timing would be right. By the late fall/early winter, he should be in fine plumage.

It was molting, the first I’ve seen. He should be in fine form before too long.

They are so cute! Such a cute couple, Belinda. You are in Canada if I recall correctly, I’ve never heard a Canadian use the term Car Park, so British!
