Someone on the path pointed to the duck and asked me if I knew what kind it was. I couldn’t give her an answer but I liked how it sat a distance from shore absorbing the late summer sunshine.

A scaup, maybe. But came across this spelling as an alien or non english word in the phonics tests for 6 year olds. So maybe we need to promote scaups as great ducks!

It’s snug as a bug in that rock, how pretty! I believe it is a female Tufted Duck. 🙂
