I had several opportunities to photograph these beautiful ducks last year. We kept returning to the same area over several days and there they were. I guess they’re being enjoyed right now by those living in more hospitable climates. 😏
As far as I know, I’ve seen only one scaup in my lifetime, and I think it was a greater scaup, rather than a lesser. You can see the cutie here, on the far right. Both drought and flooding have kept the ducks out of some of my favorite haunts; I hope to see more this year. Maybe I’ll find a pair like yours!
Great sighting of this pair, and lovely image of them, Belinda. I haven’t spotted any this season in our local pond. Maybe tomorrow when I’m birding I will. Fingers crossed.
I’ve seen a couple of them here recently, too. We’re still around 2-5C but even that might be a bit chilly for them. Today the wind was nasty! Great capture of these pretty ducks.

What a wonderful raft of ducks in your photo! I think you were right, it looks like a greater scaup.

I had a great birdy day, but no Scaups this time. ☺️

They didn’t stop here. I think we suddenly are the ‘less’ hospitable. Sleet this morning…hot (semi) tropical weather ain’t what it used to be 😵💫

A bit unusual for you folks. It still sounds a bit balmy though 😏

We have been hiding from the weather. Will continue until it’s tolerable LOL.

Pretty ducks… and lucky ducks, too, if they are enjoying warmer weather than we are!
