STOPS ALONG THE WAY

SKIPPER BUTTERFLY

Skipper

There are many varieties of this butterfly in my region of the country (and thousands worldwide), so I think I’ll just call this one a skipper! The season is short for these beautiful insects and I never pass on the chance to photograph them. It was a nice warm day so the skipper didn’t remain in one spot for long but it kept touching down close by, obliging me with this closeup.

Very sharp focus on both the skipper and the flower. It’s exciting to think that the wheel is turning and the season for butterflies, bees, and such is almost here.

About two weeks ago I saw the tiger swallow butterfly in my area of Southeast Virginia. Nice capture!! It looks like it is covered with pollen.

It’s lovely! I am looking forward to there return to my yard this year. They usually arrived with the butterflies when my Lantana is in bloom.

Very nice! We are just starting to see butterflies in New Mexico. I think of them as happy insects. They sure do make me smile 🙂
