We came upon this cottontail in a less travelled area of the park. They usually freeze in place when they see us (which this one did) or run away. The rabbit must have been pretty pleased with this patch of grass because he held his ground. We took a few photographs and then left him to his lunch.

A neighbor found a baby in his burn pile one afternoon a few years back. It was so small the neighbor thought it could not survive. He knew I had raised domestic bunnies, wild ducks, dogs, cats and about any other creature that seemed to need help. So he brought the bunny to me. I did bottle feed it for a few days, but I knew if released this bunny would be just fine despite his smallness. Grandkids were here at the time and it was fun to let them help me feed it and then release it into the woods. They are so loveable you want to keep them, but they deserve their own life.
