The photograph above was taken in March of this year, we had a late spring and the squirrel stands out against the wintery backdrop. The other two photographs were taken in early October before the vegetation had taken on its fall appearance. We’ve had some cold weather the last few days so I haven’t been keen on heading out with my camera. As we’re supposed to get some sun in the next day or two, I’ll get myself fitted up and check on these little guys and see what else is going on in the woods.

That first squirrel is amazing Belinda! The glint in his eye and the darkness of his fur, so incredibly beautiful!

It’s such fun to watch these little critters, and you have photographed them so well. The “black” ones are common on the campus of Kent State University and have slowly been making their way north. Although we don’t see them in our Back Yard Buffet yet, it could happen any day.

I think Walt Disney did a lot to endear these creatures to us, but even without him, they would soften the hardest of hearts. I’m brainwashed enough to think Perri (Disney’s squirrel) and Alvin (Ross Bagdasarian’s chipmunk) when I see these animals, and will always love them because of these artists immortalizing them. Wonderful photos. I love how clear they are. You must have a fine camera and know how to use it well.

Nice to see different types of squirrels. I have always though the black to be the prettiest. Only gray here.
