There’s something about mushrooms and fungi I like! Their curious shapes and colours; their sudden appearance or development over time. In these two examples they were growing in poorly lit areas. In the first photo, exposing for the mushroom brought it to life and gave the background a dark, eerie look. A high ISO in the second allowed me to capture the scene you see here. I wish I had had more opportunities for shots like these, maybe next year.

Makes me wish I could be out there picking chanterelles. Beautiful pics. I can almost smell that forest.

Wonderful shots, Belinda! They have so many interesting forms and colours, and hold much interest, especially as they do not move and are unaffected by the wind. Sometimes low light can be an issue, and having to get right down almost belly flat to get some of the images, but fun and worthwhile the effort in the end.

I share your fondness for fungi!
I watch every year, at autumn, for the return of “The Most Curious Fungi” which grow in the side yard.
I’m so excited I saw a new one, just days ago. It’s a little gray mushroom, and it looks like it’s covered in gray velvet!
As opposed to “Toadstools”, I’ve nicknamed them “Mole Sofas”.
Hopefully, I’ll get a photo to post before they disappear!
Seek peace,
Paz

Don’t they just make for the perfect photographic subject? It’s refreshing every now and again to photograph something that doesn’t move and that has such an interesting shape. It really means you can take your time and play with the level of the camera, the angle, the lighting, it’s something I really enjoy.
