It’s been a good summer for bees. This sweat bee or halictid bee was one of three different varieties I saw in the space of a few minutes. More to come…
Excellent detailed photo, Belinda! I am happy for you that you had a good bee season. Just heard this evening that due to the bad weather we had, bees have it difficult to find flowers and bee-keepers will collect only 30% of their annual honey..
I love how clear your “macro” pictures are. I tried taking some bee pictures yesterday. Nowhere near as clear. So I can honestly admire and appreciate your results.
It is good to know that there have been many bees around during your summer. At present we are lacking both bees and butterflies – they will hopefully return once the warmer weather sets in.

Thank you, Greta. The situation is certainly unfortunate in your country.

I sure enjoyed this beautiful bee photo, Belinda. The bee’s green colors match with the flower’s green colors.

I’m always happy to see bees. Though other insects’ numbers seem to be down.

I am concerned about insect decline, too. I was wondering about how increased CO2 levels affect insects and found this research that may point to a pretty alarming possibility: https://theconversation.com/malnourished-bugs-higher-co2-levels-make-plants-less-nutritious-hurting-insect-populations-133051

A stark report. I wonder if there is the will to reverse this decline…
