There’s a spot on the river where the cormorants gather. The silhouetted bird was sharing the tree with four other birds. I wish I had a longer lens that day.
The bill in the b/w is a giveaway for a cormorant I.D. Nice photos. I love the simple and tasteful composition of the first one. That would make a beautiful poster or design on so many things. Very nice.
The picture of the single cormorant works very well indeed as a composition; a longer lens might well have lost the lovely flowing curves of the tree’s bare branches. 🙂

B&W with the dead tree gives this shot a lonely feel to it, maybe even apocalyptic. I must be projecting my worry about Henri! 😉

It is stark and moody.
I hope Henri steers clear of your area, Eliza!

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Belinda. Currently, it looks like the eye will be tracking about 80 miles west of us. Hoping for a miracle! 🙂

They are, and this composition is so appealing. One of your special ones, I think.

Lovely shots, Belinda! Your first photo has so much atmosphere with the restricted colour palette.
