EASTERN SCREECH OWL (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

For two years in a row we’ve seen a solitary eastern screech owl in the reserve. As they blend in so well, you have to search hard to find them. We came upon this owl last April, and we continued to see it for several weeks in the hollow of the tree or perched on a nearby branch. I look forward to seeing one again this spring.

Your screech owl photos are adorable! Just visited from Skip’s blog (Seen Along the Trail). Since she recommends checking out other photographers’ works, I am now following. Will look forward to seeing more. Meanwhile I shall check out some of your other posts!

Love your little Eastern screech owl. Because it reminded me of the one I see in Chagrin River Park, I referenced your blog in my post today, giving you full credit of course. I hope that is okay with you.

For several years an Eastern Screech Owl has lived in a nesting box high up in a tree in the Chagrin River Park. Difficult to spot because of its protective coloration, it is an adorable little bird, but a raptor nonetheless, that keeps a keen eye on the bog where the tree is located.

The camouflage is amazing! Beautiful shots of a rare sighting. I always feel a bit of a thrill when I see an owl. They’re so elusive.
