Both the Hairy (first photo) and Downy Woodpeckers were well represented the day I took these photographs. I hadn’t seen any in quite a while so I was pleased at the opportunity. I haven’t had too much luck at identifying birds lately, so I’m happy to say I got these two right!

Very cute little woodpeckers! I have seen these species while travelling in North America. We have a similar-sized woodpecker here in the UK (called the lesser spotted, not very imaginatively) but it’s rare and shy, and not often seen.

Sweet woodpecker shots! 🙂 A woodpecker, the last few days, has been drilling away at my elderly neighbor’s house (doing significant damage)!
