STOPS ALONG THE WAY

MEADOW VOLE (TWO PHOTOGRAPHS)

Like many kids growing up, I loved The “Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame. This gentle looking meadow vole reminded me of this childhood favourite. We stood and watched as it munched its way along the lakefront, not giving us a second look. We were lucky to see one as they’re mainly active at night.

I’ve enjoyed how you’ve been sharing both the color and monochromatic versions of certain images. It’s fun seeing the subtle or startling differences depending on the medium- particularly for some of your architectural/townwalkaround stuff.

I made a pet of one when I was a kid, named him ‘Timmy Willie’ after the country mouse in a Beatrix Potter book. They are cute, but they can sure wreak havoc in a garden!

Oh, you’ve taken me back to the willow-lined stream, Toad and Moley!
A nice shot and a heartwarming reference.

Cute little guy Belinda. I also like experimenting with my images by posting in monochrome as well as colour, and often something crazy in between. I just discovered you on Brian’s blog – Butterflies and Dragsters.

I have never ever seen a mole come this far out of the ground, it’s usually only a peak with the nose or if you’re lucky, the head. Great photo, Belinda, of this adorable mole.

What a sweet capture, Belinda. Great clarity. Maybe after this you might find him “messing about in boats”. 🙂

An animal I always loved to spot. Thanks. Now I need to check and find if they live in the southern US. I have not seen one in years.
