STOPS ALONG THE WAY

NOT LONG NOW

It’s been a long, cold winter and I haven’t been on the trails much (not a big fan of winter). But on seeing this brilliant cardinal for inspiration, I’m dusting off my gear, examining every tree I pass for buds and counting the days/weeks when I’ll be out in earnest again.

What a beautiful treat to find this brilliant red cardinal in the snow! Now that we see northern cardinals all year round here in sunny warm South Florida, it seems curious to me how often we saw them in the winter when we lived in upstate New York.

Cardinals are at their best when surrounded by snow. I too am eager for spring.

Beautiful cardinal! We don’t have those here in Wyoming…but my mom always talked about her love for cardinals when she was growing up in Illinois. I absolutely LOVE winter! LOL! The season I dislike the most is summer…too hot, too many bugs, and rattlesnakes. LOL!

Just the touch of red needed to begin daydreaming about spring explorations. While I’ve enjoyed searching for hidden beauties of winter, I too am eager to see what will unfold during the blooming season.

His expression looks like he is trying out for a role in an ‘Angry Birds’ movie, lol.

Beautiful! We have also had a long, hard winter and the older I get the more I hate it!

Sweet shot, Belinda! 🙂 Being older, i detest being out in the cold. I remain indoors and keep programming and reprogramming the cameras for when spring actually does arrive.

His colour really stands out against the snow but I’m sure he’d rather be standing in greenery.

Great photo Belinda! It’s amazing how these tiny birds survive the cold. His little talons are gripping the snow. 💕❤️

Absolutely stunning photo of the northern cardinal, Belinda. Great contrast between the red and white, and lovely to see so many features including the toes and slight overlap of the bill. Hang in there, spring is right around the corner….
