These are one of the first forest flowers of Spring. I took this photo in April last year when the weather was warmer. It’s always a pleasure to see these bright bursts of colour welcoming the season along. They usually keep company with snow drops and violets. I’ll check on their progress next time I visit the nature reserve.

Very pretty, especially the color version for spring. I hope you find some fresh subjects when you get their next!

These very closely resemble the Glacier Lilies of the U.S. mountain west.

It has been such a cool spring, I wonder if we’ll see these before May 1st! Lovely shot, Belinda.

My first reaction to this comparison of colour vs. b/w was to say that I liked the colour better, but then almost immediately I noticed that the stamens of the flower showed up much more on the b/w. So it depends on the purpose of your photo. Is it to show the details of the lines of the flower, or the beautiful colour? Each serves a purpose. Each beautiful in its own way.

I think we’re attracted to colour yet b/w can be equally appealing. Both distinctive in their own way.
Thanks for your comment Anneli.

It’s a fun thing to find the spring flowers and to “check on their progress.” Lovely photo of the trout lily, Belinda. I hope spring arrives soon for you.
