Egret and geese

The egret was the bright spot on the water and stood out among the canada geese.  We see the occasional egret, heron or cormorant along with huge numbers of geese in this body of water but they’re always at a fair distance. Scenes like this stretch the limits of my lens but make for a pleasant perspective.

Some small, silly part of me can’t help wondering if the geese feel a little dirty when a radiant egret like that chooses to strut in among them.

Very cool! 🙂 The Canada geese by us get few visitors… sometimes Mallard ducks join them.

The presence of the egret ‘makes’ this picture and draws attention to the Canada Geese in a way one might not have looked at them if they were on their own. The reflections are beautiful too.
