MUSKRAT

Muskrat

I haven’t returned to the reserve where this was taken at all this year. There are just too many people. In looking through my folders, I came upon this photo I took a few years ago.  We usually see a few muskrats each summer and that year was no exception.  They can be tricky subjects as their wet fur often reflects odd colours.

Cute photo of a species that I’ve always found quite difficult to photograph (probably because I mostly see them in prairie lakes with light contrast issues).

I’m sorry to hear that the crowds are a problem. I’m also avoiding many places where I’d like to go. My immediate area was heavily hit by tourists early in lockdown, some of whom were breathtakingly irresponsible, but the crowds have taken to the coast now – where they are also causing chaos, looking at the news.

Pity about too many people. So far I haven’t run into crowds at the preserves I’ve been to in NY and NJ. That would put me off too. Nice muskrat.

And doesn’t yours? I always make sure that mine is good and dry before I venture out in public.

I have never seen this animal before. It ‘s very cute, a little bit funny looking and very determined.
    Excellent!
