BELINDA GROVER PHOTOGRAPHY

STOPS ALONG THE WAY

BUSY BEE

If I had been asked what I thought of insects before I began in photography I would have probably shrugged my shoulders and wondered if they stung. Now quite a few years on, I have to admire these hardworking and determined little critters. Seeing the bee move along the leaf’s surface makes for an interesting glimpse into their world.

I remember a quip: It was said that bees, given their small wings, shouldn’t be able to fly. The reason they do fly is because they don’t know they’re not supposed to.

What I love about photography is that it captures details we would not be seeing with our naked eye. Such intricate details and vivid colors. Hello, little bee.

Photography certainly allows us to really see insects and study them in detail where we couldn’t easily do so in real life close up as they are always moving. I credit Victor with my first exposure to the macro world of insects for which I am always grateful. They went from ‘monsters’ to highly respectable and fascinating! My best to him!
