These birds are among the first to return in the early spring. We’ll just have to wait a few more weeks. However, I did see a pair of Canada Geese flying overhead. What a sight at the end of a long winter 😊
Such a joy these days, as the temperatures are rising and the birds coming out. Although I’m not sure if our red-winged blackbirds left for warmer quarters, we had such a mild winter🙂
The spring bird of the marsh! They surely do bring the marsh alive each spring. I’ve seen large flocks high in the skies reported last few days for both Canada and Snow Geese, heading north! Tundra Swans too. They are on their way!
Great image, Belinda! We have had our first Red-Wing Blackbirds this season! They arrived this past week-end and quickly found my neighbors feeder and then mine.
Yesterday I noticed far fewer White Crown Sparrows at my feeder! Only 4 down from 15-20, but there are now about 15 House Sparrows coming to my feeder as of yesterday so, Spring migration is on! It shouldn’t be much longer before you start seeing the Red-wings there. 😀
I saw a small flock of Canada geese fly over just yesterday and I was thinking this morning I need to walk to the pond up the road to see if there are any RWBs. It is time! 👍🏼
It’s so great to see them, isn’t it? We had quite a few geese overwintering here. They may have regretted their decision once we had that cold snap in January though!
They are beautiful birds! You reminded me of two days ago when the garage door opened. When the noise stopped I saw two Canada Geese flying northeast from my home. Happily honking. 😊❤️🇨🇦

We’re starting to see the return of Canada Geese, it’ll be a little longer before the return of RW Blackbirds here…

We see many RWBs each spring and Geese as well. Just have to be patient a bit longer 😏

Spring is pretty magical, it’s always been my favorite time of year. Glad you are on the cusp of it after a weary winter!

I agree, and any fresh snow won’t be sticking around now 😊. Thank you, Ellen!

I love their sound, especially at the edge of a marsh when we’re trout fishing and they tell us what to use. They sing, “Purple-LE-E-EAder.”

Thank you, Deborah! It sounds like your feeder is seeing a lot of activity. I hope to see birds winging their way north before too long 😊

I hope you see some, I might just check out a local spot too but I think it’s probably a bit soon here.
