The few Great Blue Herons I’ve seen this summer have been at quite a distance. I usually see them fishing in the reeds close to shore. This pond is large and not very deep.I guess the heron was trying his luck a little further afield.
Nice shot, Belinda. I like the layered background. Such amazing birds (they remind me of pterodactyls)! I haven’t seen many this year, nor last. There were two marshy areas in town that had small nesting colonies, but neither have had them for a couple of years. Maybe they fished the ponds clean!
