I almost walked right past the mourning dove until someone pointed it out; it blended in so well with its surroundings. I usually see them on rooftops or in trees so this one was a surprise.
They are pretty little birds. We have a similar species here (the collared dove) which is also very mild and gentle, except when magpies are around and threatening fledglings.
They are so well camouflaged! When I had bird feeders – some years ago now – I occasionally had a visiting mourning dove. They were such gentle and pretty additions. Good capture, Belinda. 😊
