After a walk around the reserve and having seen very little we decided to return to the car. A few minutes from the entrance we came upon this Black-crowned Night Heron. A first of the year sighting!

What a wonderful surprise! Nature often saves the best moments for last. Seeing a Black-crowned Night Heron, especially a first-of-the-year sighting, must have made the walk truly worthwhile. Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment and reminder that patience is often rewarded. 😊
