This little beetle might look innocent enough but it’s not. It’s a spotted cucumber beetle. It damages plants and spreads pathogens. I hadn’t seen one before and was pleased to see it until I looked it up 😏

Another lesson for people like me. I had no idea what they are. It reminded me of picking beetles off our potato plants when I was a child. These little beetles were a lot like ladybugs except they had black stripes on their red shells instead of black dots like the ladybugs. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spotted cucumber beetle, but if I do, now I’ll know what it is.

Yes, I remember being tasked to pull them out of my mother’s tomatoes and cukes when I was a child. If I recall correctly she mail ordered some kind of spiders to control them! Your picture is beautiful though, Belinda. 😊
