The plant above is a yarrow. I have to thank Eliza for the correct ID (see comments). Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo of one. That will have to wait until next year. Pretty plant though 😏
I took this photo in late June when the plant was beginning to flower. It’s native to Ontario and other parts of North America. It got its common name from its use as a herbal medecine to break fevers. I liked the way it was set off against that summer green background,

Beautifully captured! I love the way you noticed the yarrow against the summer greenery. Nature’s simple details can be so wonderfully beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

That’s a great picture, Belinda. When I was a child my mother used to call it “Queen Anne’s Lace.” It’s actually a member of the daisy family and can cause allergies in some people who are sensitive to pollens, especially ragweed (ragweed is also a member of the daisy family). It contains ASA which is why it was used medicinally by First Nations and also during medieval times.

A nice singling out of a young flower head, Belinda. We scarcely notice the ‘before’ and tend to focus on the later showy bloom. However, looking at the frilly compound leaf leads me to believe that is Yarrow. (Boneset has simple ovate leaves.) The botanical nerd in me can’t be controlled, ha! 😀

I compared the leaves of the two plants, yarrow it is! I appreciate the correction, Eliza.

Thank you, Deborah. Not a boneset as I thought but a yarrow plant.

I hadn’t heard of this one before. I looked it up and it sounds like it can be beneficial for a lot of things, but it does come with a warning that too much of a good thing can be harmful, so be careful how many photos you take of it.😉

I would too. Do you have any pictures of it in full bloom? I don’t know what it is like at all.

Thanks, Belinda. We have yarrow here, of course, but I don’t know the name Boneset. Thanks checking that out.
