Chickadee - aerial

Black-capped chickadees are all season birds in our area. You’d think that such tiny birds would head south over the winter but they remain, you’ve got to admire them for that! Although you might be tempted to pass them by and concentrate on photographing the spring migrants when they come through, chickadees just call out for some notice any time of year. They’re little acrobats and when one strikes this kind of pose I can’t resist.

  1. Beautiful shot, I love how they puff up when it is particularly cold out. Not sure if this is the same bird as we have here in TX, but we have similar little guys that stay year round. Lots of fun to watch.

  10. Even though chickadees are very common here year-round, I always enjoy watching them too. Though getting one to sit still long enough for a photo like this one isn’t easy!

  11. Lovely shot Belinda. Think the UK equivalent would be the Coal Tit (Parus ater) though they do not pose for long.
