STOPS ALONG THE WAY

CEDAR WAXWING

It was our first time back to this particular nature reserve since last fall. It has a wonderful wildlife garden and the rest of the property consists of trails and woodlots. As we walked along one of the paths we came across this solitary waxwing out in the open. He sat on the branch in no hurry to leave. He made my morning.

Lovely photo – with his bandit mask and mohican he looks a bit of a rascal!

This is one of my favorite birds. I only saw them once in my life, a cute pair, in Park City, Utah.

Beautiful!! I love Cedar Waxwings. I used to live in a house that had a row of some type of holly looking bush that grew big, fat purple berries and every year a huge flock of Waxwings would come devour them. So fun to hear them all a twitter in the trees!

What a plump, handsome fellow. Love the windblown tuft. He looks like he’s challenging the camera, “What are YOU looking at?”

He looks like the bird version of an admiral or a general. Very distinguished! We have cedar waxwings here now and then but it’s rare to see them. It’s a real treat when we do. Lovely shot! This bird looks as if he brushed all his feathers smooth for the photo op, and he’s proud to be posing for you.

Fantastic photo Belinda. Love the highlight of his yellow-tipped tail and yellow chest, and of course the alluring eye mask. I always say this is one of North America’s most beautiful birds….

Beautiful! Great capture of the bird and a perfect scene with the tree buds just starting. It’s always nice to get shots of the full bird before the leaves start getting in the way.
