CEDAR WAXWING

Waxwing 2

Another sign of spring is the return of cedar waxwings. We usually see them in a group or ear-full (as they’re known collectively) but I only saw this one bird. It was nice to get him out in the open before the leaves were out.

  3. I saw and heard a small flock of them today, but they did a good job of staying hidden in the branches. They are beautiful birds!

  7. Just seeing your post title got me excited! Fabulous shot, Belinda!! I love the contrasting colors and beauty of these birds, and have only captured a small ‘ear-full’ once in a tree. (new group term for me, thanks for mentioning it!)

  8. A beautifully clear photograph: might that be pollen on its tail? I love the collective name for these birds – relating to ear wax?
