Many birds balance on one leg to reduce heat loss. Although it looks kind of comical it’s quite effective. Another photo of a wood duck with attractive fall background.
At the zoo in my hometown I have seen white and pink cranes doing this balancing act.It used to look like as if they are meditating deeply between all the hustle-bustle of the world 😃😀

I just noticed how his foot is centered under his body, although the top of the leg is attached more to the side. Good balance.
